In The Golden Afternoon.

This week I've made my first crumble of the year with blackberries picked from my parents garden, I've worn black tights two days in a row, and I've noticed an unmistakable chill in the air. Summer is definitely on it's way out, however the 'A' word has been banned in our house. Every time I suggest the seasons may be on the turn, someone is sure to roll their eyes and and shoot me down. I don't mean to be a downer -not by any means- quite the opposite in fact! I adore this time of year. I love the colours and the golden light and the unmistakable quiet in the air. I love watching blackberries ripen and the leaves turn crisp and wearing socks to bed. It all makes me feel so content, as does the prospect of Halloween and chilly walks around the markets back in Bath, clutching pumpkin spiced lattes and salted caramel treats.

I wore this dress a couple of months ago in my
Summer Lookbook, however I think it's going to have a new lease of life come chillier weather. It looks so lovely layered over black tights, and I'm sure it'll become a fun little staple over the party season. Yesterday I wore it with a splash of red lipstick and all black accessories for a meal out to celebrate my brother's GCSE results; he got four A*s, blowing my results out of the water! We went to The Godolphin Arms in Marazion, overlooking St Michael's Mount, and it was such a lovely evening. Delicious food, good company, and plenty of laughter.
I've been making plans for Briar Rose over the past couple of weeks, with my main aim being to really boost how often I post by January 2015. It's not that I'm unhappy with my content, it's just that I want to be posting more regularly, and broadening my horizons. As such, you can expect more written content in the coming months, as well as regular recipe posts even after The Great Blogger Bake Off comes to an end. Amongst other things, I'm intending to talk about books, writing and cosplay, however if there's anything else you'd like to hear about then let me know in a comment below! I'm really excited about taking Briar Rose in a slightly new direction...
