Sew & Tell Saturday DIY Fashion Link Party

Hi everyone!

Welcome back to Sew & Tell Saturday!

I’d love to have a chat about your opinions of linky parties in general. A lot of bloggers have stopped doing them and some people think that with the advent of Instagram and other social media, they are not as “happening” as they used to be. But I’m a little old school and I think we should bring them back. Well, obviously I do, or I wouldn’t be doing this. There are so many blogs now to read, and who has time to stop by a blog, post a project, and then go visit another’s blog and then leave a comment on that blog as well? But what is everyone in such a hurry for anyway?

All those projects on Pinterest can become overwhelming and it all just becomes too much …..Maybe we all just need to slow down a little. Because blogging is all about community, right? Or is it about how many pins a post can get? It’s easy to get wrapped up in all that other stuff, I know I’m guilty of checking to often to see how many pins a given tutorial might get. It’s intriguing.

There are so many blogs and what makes you want to come back to a certain one to read it? I’m not sure exactly, but I think what draws me to certain blogs is the voice of the person writing it, more than the projects and tutorials. And of course inspiring photos are a huge enticer as well.

I feel like everything has just gotten so fast paced. People hardly even comment anymore. Is commenting becoming old school too? Blogging changes so fast, and the rules are always changing. Things are a lot different from when I started back in 2010. Speaking of which, have you heard of the documentary American Blogger yet? Here is a trailer to see it..

But let’s talk sewing now. I’ve been sewing like a maniac for this play I’m working on and I am looking forward to making some modern clothing after eating , sewing, and sleeping 190′s Chekhov style outfits.

1890′s walking suit made from a tablecloth..

What have you been up to? Let’s see!
