Lace Butterfly Necklace

Spring is here! well, it’s almost summer so how about a BUTTERFLY project? Sounds good!

I love trying to make jewelery with non conventional materials and these were some little scrap book stickers that I used fabric stiffener on to make them more firm.

I have been seeing pretty lace jewelry lately, and recently made a pair of lace earrings from some lace scraps I had. When I saw these pretty lace butterfly scrap booking lace butterfly stickers I though they would be pretty turned into a necklace. And it was very simple to make! Here is how I did it.

Materials:

Darice 1 inch silver chain

Darice 6 mm silver jump rings

Darice lobster clasp

Fabric Stiffener

Butterfly stickers from Martha Stewart

Put the lace pieces on a paper plate.

Brush them with the fabric stiffener

Let dry.

Attach jump rings through the little holes in on the wings of the butterflies. If the stiffener has covered the lace holes, poke some out with a toothpick.

Cut 1 1/2 inch pieces of the chain to attach to the jump rings in between the butterflies.

Cut the remainder of the chain in two and attach to the ends of both of the small butterflies. Add a jump ring to one end and a lobster clasp to the other.

I put a little jewelry glue onto the jump rings so they don’t open. I hate when that happens !
