Afrofuturism: Wangechi Mutu exhibit at the BK Museum

I finally managed to see the Wangechi Mutu exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum this weekend. My friends were raving about the afrofuturistic designs of the Kenyan artist. And what can I say - her art is impressive, impactful, disturbing and reveals more and more the longer you look at the images. Some of her reoccurring topics are the exploitation of the female body, how the African continent is depicted and exploited, and the experience of migration.

The exhibition in the Brooklyn Museum ends on the 9th of March. So you still have a couple of days to check it out. Go see!
