Fitness Friday: Best Exercises for Flat Abs

One of my all time favorite exercises for flat abs is the “plank.” Nothing works all the major muscle groups in my abdominal area quite like this move and there are a number of effective variations to the traditional plank that will help you get that six pack! I found a number of awesome workouts via Pinterest (follow @Longing4Length) for great tummy toning workouts I’d like to share with you. All you need is a stability ball and space; Add these to your normal workout routine and I absolutely guarantee you will see and feel the results. With swimsuit season upon us, I have committed to doing at least one routine per day.

Another favorite that isn’t pictured in any of these workouts is the plank jack, which elevates your heart rate a bit while engaging your core. While spot exercising alone won’t get you the results you want, targeting specific areas in addition to your regular cardio workouts will accelerate you towards your goals. Some of these exercising are so challenging and make me so sore, but then I picture how flat my tummy will be in a few months and push through the pain!
