How to Wear the Floral Trend This Summer

Every spring and summer the floral trend returns and it just keeps getting better and better. Today I am going to show you three different casual ways that I like to style the floral trend this summer using some of my favourite floral accessories and dresses from New Look.

The first look centres around the Inspire White Floral Belted Maxi Dress which is a creamy white colour with a busy muted floral pattern on it. I've ordered this dress and can't wait to wear it now that I'm out and about after my summer bout of sinusitis (what is it with summer colds?!). I love the tan belt that comes with the dress; I had a similar one from New Look last year and I wore it with so many of my other summer outfits, especially on holiday.

When wearing such a busy maxi dress, I'd keep footwear really simple by picking out the main colour of the dress and choosing flats for comfort like the White Metal Trim T Bar Sandals as they're hardly going to be seen and they'll go with lots of summer outfits. I'd choose the Cream Exotic Flower Hair Garland for my head and wear my hair down with the garland over the top in a relaxed, boho style. I'd recommend selecting a flowers in the garland that have similar colours to the pattern in the dress to pull the outfit together.

If your style is a little more sporty but you still want to embrace the floral trend, I would opt for the Inspire Navy Textured Daisy Print Tunic Dress which has a really boxy fit that you could dress up or down. I love the darkness of the navy against the pop of white and yellow with the daisies and I think a pair of the White Lace Up Sports Plimsolls would look fab with it. I love the dress with super white trainers look, I used to wear it many moons ago and have started to again this summer. I would wear my hair up in a high bun with the White Daisy Bun Hair Garland around it to pull the daisy look through the whole outfit. I've been wearing these hair flowers over my top knots for the last two summers now and I absolutely love them because they make you look as though you've really put a lot of effort into your hair when you've really had that extra five minutes asleep in bed that morning.

The final outfit I've put together features a dress that I think is perfect for those summer days when you want to look somewhere between smart and casual, perhaps for afternoon tea or lunch out, and that's the Inspire Orange Tile Print Skater Dress. This dress is perfect for those who want to dabble in the floral trend but who are a little shy about wearing full on flowers on their clothes. I'd suggest choosing a floral hair accessory in a colour to compliment your dress, that way you're pulling the look together and tying flowers into it without wearing all over florals. For this dress, I think the Coral Exotic Flower Hair Garland would look perfect as has some shades in it that really compliment the colour of the dress and it'll really stand out in your hair. Wearing flowers in your hair looks really feminine and summery so having a small collection of floral accessories in your stash can help to bring in the floral trend into your outfits. With this dress, I'd also pair it with the Coral Leather Look T Bar Sandals which are actually the shoes my bridesmaids wore on my wedding day!
