The winner of the NuttZo to go packets giveaway is

#138 Terri M.

Congrats! Email me your mailing address and I’ll get them on the way to you.

Last night I taught a couple classes at the Y- HIIT and group strength training. I was pretty done by the end of the second one.

I did muster enough energy to get cat food though. We were down to our last can. Love it when that happens right after a big Costco trip, yes?

This morning I slept in. I wasn’t feeling that great, but figured I needed to get in a long run today if it was going to happen this weekend.

Had a little breakfast with the family first. This was just part of if- the other part was coffee and eggs. I’m out or purple sweet potatoes which makes me very sad, but stocked up on a few regular ones from Trader Joe’s.

The little ones are really easy to microwave by the way. Topped with coconut butter, Peanut free NuttZo, cinnamon and a couple of sliced strawberries.

It took me forever to get out the door. I knew I was feeling off and tired and everyone has been sick around here the past couple of weeks.

I finally got out the door and told Andrew to keep his phone handy in case he needed to come pick me up.

I set out for 22 miles. I went very slow. The path by my house is super hilly and I was just not feeling well.

By mile 11 I decided I could either suffer through 11 more miles and pay for it later or I could take the shortest route home as possible and call it a day.

I chose the shortest route and I’m really glad I did. I feel like dump and am pretty sure I have whatever sickness the boys have been passing around. I’m not always the best at listening to my body, but sometimes I make the right decision.

I didn’t get 22 miles in, I got in 14 and well, that was good enough.

I totally laid on the grass in the front yard when I got home. Just to have some time to stretch and breathe.

I remembered my Runner’s World Challenge friend, Jen Van Alan, told me a long time ago that REST is not a four letter word. I love that and try to remind myself of that often.

After a shower all I wanted was a huge bowl of air popped popcorn. Weird. I’m usually craving kabocha squash or something so I know something isn’t right.

I did make some air popped popcorn though and scarfed it down with coconut oil, sea salt, nutritional yeast and some Bagel Spice seasoning.

It was delicious.

I wanted to get the recipe to you for that awesome huge green plantain breakfast cake from yesterday, but I’m going to go rest a bit instead.

I will show you a couple fun things we got from Frieda’s produce yesterday though.

Oh man, these sangria artichokes are so awesome. I’ll be making them up the same way I did last time.

Just in case you want to get your hands on these gems here are where you can find them.

· Southern California: Gelson’s, Ralphs, Vons, and Albertson’s

· Northern California: Whole Foods

· Arizona: Sprouts

· Missouri / St. Louis: Schnucks

· Texas: HEB and Sprouts in Austin area

· Thriftway in Portland OR and Seattle WA

Sunchokes have a low glycemic index which is essential for weight watchers and diabetics. They are high in potassium, iron, vitamin C, protein, and the natural fiber called inulin that is considered a “pre-biotic,” which helps good bacteria grow in the digestive tract. Studies also show that Sunchokes may also help lower blood pressure and decrease cholesterol.

And some more of these Sunchokes.

I’ll be making roasted Sunchokes very soon. Have you ever had them?

Okay, I’m off.

Have a great Friday night! We are taking things very easy.

The boys have their big 1/4 mile race tomorrow morning for the Junior Carlsbad, so we’ve got to be ready. They are pumped and STUFT Daddy is joining in the party too. Should be a blast.

Ever had to cut a run short and either get picked up or take a different route home?

What are your favorite toppings or seasonings for popcorn (if you eat it)?
