A Couple Reminders to Just Be Kind

Happy Friday!

I had a little moment in the car last night after teaching couple classes at the gym.

I kind of just told myself that it was time to start being kind. To myself, to everyone. Weird thought, but I’m hard on myself and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one out there who is hard on themselves. Let’s just decided to be nice, okay?

Okay.

So today I had my last chance to get in a long run before Boston. I wasn’t too excited to get out the door, but knew it was going to be glorious when it was done.

I headed out with my pre run fuel plate and my little man who always has to say “bye” made sure I didn’t forget my Vega recovery accelerator.

Yes, I’ve been eating gluten and grains. I’m experimenting and after having some sort of stomach thing all last week, my body has really been wanting bread lately. I’m listening. Inside that sandwich is the other half of the banana, coconut oil, a little peanut free NuttZo and some cinnamon.

Anyhoo…

kept my whole “being kind” theme going for my run. I told myself my pace didn’t matter, I just wanted to get the miles done.

At mile two I was slow, but feeling good.

It’s always weird to set out for a long run and tell yourself that you’ll be done in over three hours. That’s just a long time. I forget everything that goes through my head while I’m out there.

My turn around view.

The last 9 miles or so felt really good. I didn’t go fast or anything, but heck, I really enjoyed this run for some reason. Don’t get me wrong, long runs are never easy, but this one just felt good. Maybe because I don’t have another training run coming up soon or anything and because last week’s run was just not good at all.

And whelp, I made it. I set out to do 24 miles. I did 24.22 miles.

Loved this little message after my run with my Nike app.

That’s right. We’re never finished, but sometimes our shoes are. Ha.

Conveniently I parked where they’ll be doing some Ragnar So Cal stuff tomorrow.

One of these days I’ll run that. I still have never done a Ragnar race. Have you?

Not a bad spot for the location I must say.

I had a little long run finish party of my own which included a less than flattering selfie

and my Vega recovery drink.

Random, but I was super excited to find that huge Starbucks straw in my glove compartment. Sometimes it’s the simple things. And straws just make everything better.

Well shucks, in the whole being kind theme, that’s all I’ve got.

I’m going to be kind to you by keeping this short, be kind to the family by catching up on taxes and laundry and be kind to myself by getting some rest and probably some cheap wine later on tonight with the hubs.

Oh, and one last reminder, today is the last day to enter the Love Grown Foods Power O’s Giveaway.

Random, but while we’re talking Love Grown Foods, sometimes a big bowl of Super Oats is spectacular with a crumbled chocolate chip cookie dough Quest Bar mixed in.

Not the best pictures, but it was so delicious.

Have a great weekend! Good luck to those of you who are racing!

What are you going to do this weekend to be kind to yourself?
