Lotus Yoga Gear Giveaway

Good morning!

Four for four on the early wake ups this week. I’m pretty pumped about it. Hoping I can stick with it awhile.

They say though that it takes 21 days for something to become a habit. Hmm.. I wonder if that’s really true or not. I’ll go with it I guess. Only seventeen more days to go.

I wanted double digits this morning since I didn’t really run yesterday. Thanks to this not that great movie, I got them. (Seriously, this movie is not that good, but Eric Dane is in it, so at least it kept my attention.)

I stopped at 11.11 on purpose. I love that number and wanted to make myself feel lucky like great things were going to happen today.

And…… the Boston Marathon is in 11 days. Say what? Beavis. That makes my stomach hurt.

I was still feeling a little lucky I guess after I dropped the boys off. I went to the store really quickly for cat food only and somehow found a venti Americano in my hand.

Weird how that happened.

I randomly put together this kale berry egg white scramble when I got home.

I wanted something sweet and since I just got some new jugs of egg whites and some fresh berries the other day I decided to put them all together. It was pretty tasty. I scrambles the kale and eggs together with some coconut oil and cinnamon. Then I added the berries and cooked them until the berries got a bit juicy and messy. Then I topped it with a little buckwheat honey, coconut oil and more cinnamon. I also had a couple SunButter and NuttZo sandwiches on the side.

Okay, moving on.

Let’s talk yoga.

I always say I really need to do more yoga. Ever since I took that awesome hot yoga class awhile ago, I’ve been wanting to go back. It’s just hard to find the time. For now though I’m trying to incorporate a little into my weekly schedule when I can.

Back in October I went to the Runner’s World Festival to run the Hat Trick.

Remember that? When I got to run with Summer Sanders? I’ll never forget it.

As one of the weekend festivities we did a yoga for runners workout.

Along with the awesome workout, we were gifted some pretty awesome Lotus yoga gear.

That is also where I got my cool Xfinity fitness band.

The workout they had us do there incorporated the band with some yoga poses and stretches.

I really like the special Lotus Grip Block because you can hold it securely so many different ways.

I hadn’t seen anything like it before. Such a great idea. It feels more sturdy to hold on to and I need that since my hands sweat really easily. A good grip is key.

So yesterday since I skipped out on my run and the fact that I was pretty much buried in taxes all day got the best of me, I decided to take advantage of just a couple minutes outside for some yoga inspired stretches.

I’m not going to lie, I felt pretty cool getting out my yoga gear. Not cool that I only went in the backyard, but whatever works.

I am definitely not the yoga expert, but sometimes you only need a few basic poses and stretches.

Here is a link for 10 Simple Yoga Moves For Runners from Runner’s World.

I didn’t do them all yesterday, but I do like the list of ten easy moves. My few minutes outside looked a little like this.

Yes. Basic. I’ve got a lot of work to do on being more flexible.

And when I say my time outside was short and not quite as relaxing as I imagined, this was why.

Okay, so what I have for you.

First off I found this article on how yoga can help your running from Runner’s World.

Here’s the reasons why you should do yoga from the article.

Why strike a pose? Studies have shown that yoga squashes stress, aids weight loss, eases pain, helps people stick to an exercise routine, and even improves running times. The strength and flexibility you develop on the mat–namely in the core, quads, hamstrings, and hip flexors–can help you run more efficiently and stay injury-free, says Adam St. Pierre, a coach, biomechanist, and exercise physiologist for the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine.

So many of us don’t do it.

But…..

maybe having the right gear will help.

Yes?

So here’s a little giveaway for you.

One winner will receive a Lotus Yoga Gift Pack.

Here’s what you will get:

Lotus Deluxe Yoga Tote

Lotus Grip Block

Yoga Alignment Mat or Lotus Yoga Folding Mat (as seen on The Today Show)

(I have the folding mat, but the tote has a cool side loop to carry a regular yoga mat.)

All the Lotus Yoga Gear I received can be found at Walmart and HERE online on the Walmart website. Wow, I didn’t realize they had so much different gear. I really have a lot to learn about the yoga thing. Hmmm….I could really use a pair of these no slip socks. Does anyone have these? My sweaty feet are always slipping.

Leave me a comment here to enter the giveaway:

Tell me anything you want about yoga. (Favorite class, if you do yoga at all, where you do it, favorite piece of equipment, how it’s helped you, if you have those cool socks, etc.)

Or tell me your favorite yoga DVD or video. (I want to find a couple good ones.)

You can tweet this for an additional entry (just make sure to come back and leave an additional comment).
