Incredible Ladies, a New Recovery Drink and the Coolest Movie Night Ever

Oh hello.

Happy weekend.

We’ve been busy busy over here, but thought I’d just dump a few of our happenings on you because I’m nice like that. Ha ha.

First off, a HUGE Happy Birthday to the BEST Mom ever.

We love her. She is the most amazing woman. My attempts to follow in her footsteps and be the most generous, giving, loving, put together mom and friend and to pretty much brighten the lives of everyone around her have not exactly gone as planned. But… there’s still time for me. I’m not giving up yet. She in one incredible lady.

She had to work on her birthday yesterday though. Boo. We’re celebrating next week, but now that she’s a year older she’s going to train for her first 5K and travel with me a bit more to races. Right Mom? I’m so excited too!

LOVE YOU!

Secondly, my friend Deena Kastor did it AGAIN today at the More Fitness Half Marathon. When I last chatted with her at the Carlsbad All Day 20K she told me this was her next race. She talked about it as though it was just going to be a fun event to hang out and do girlie stuff. She did not say anything about breaking freaking records yet again.

Check this short clip from instagram.

Um so yeah, she broke the More Fitness Half Marathon record with a 1:11:38. Incredible. She really is one of my main running inspirations.

It was right about when I watched this that I decided to get my bootie out of bed this morning and on the treadmill.

So workouts:

Yesterday I did 6 easy, slow miles on the treadmill early in the morning.

Taught a boot camp class at the park after and then later on in the evening got suckered into doing a little backyard medicine ball workout.

It was only about 20 minutes and I had my “coaches” take some pictures so I’ll put a little workout together for tomorrow’s post. Sometimes 20 minutes is all you need for a full body workout.

This morning I ran 14.13 miles on the treadmill.

I ran part of the Amsterdam marathon course with my iFit Google maps.

I must say it was pretty cool that while I was running through Amsterdam I was also watching The Heat.

The movie was hilarious (if you don’t mind potty words). Love these two ladies together and also love that Sandra Bullock was wearing SPANX. Those just happen to be the same kind I wear.

Oh and this little drink I made immediately after my run this morning was pretty darn awesome. I usually just do a little Vega Recovery Accelerator with a splash of apple cider vinegar, but today I decided to mix in some greens.

Here’s what went in the mix:

a scoop of Vega Recovery Accelerator, a tablespoon apple cider vinegar, juice from a Frieda’s produce pink lemon, a huge handful of kale, crushed ice and water.

It was delightful.

It held me over just long enough until I got my two huge cups of coffee and breakfast.

Here are some STUFT happenings that I just feel like dumping on you. You’re welcome in advance.

It’s spring so that means the tortoises are back out. We make sure they’re well fed. They particularly like strawberries.

I got a special surprise package from Arctic Zero in the mail the other day.

These are their new flavors that have just come out- coconut, orange and sea salt caramel. And yes, that is Ropey in the background trying to photo dump.

I went for the sea salt caramel one the other night.

I topped it with a little unsweetened dark chocolate sauce.

I really liked it.

Our favorite bedtime book as of late (besides the boys’ devotional) is Edward the Emu.

My new favorite mug from Marshalls is this one. $3.99 for some spring flowers with my morning coffee.

Last night STUFT Daddy had a little bachelor thing to attend so the boys and I decided to have a little party on our own.

It was a pajama party.

Complete with whole wheat homemade pizzas for the boys

and for mama.

We ate in the TV room

and watched a really cool movie.

I also felt the need to try out another Arctic Zero flavor. This time I went for the coconut one and added some frozen unsweetened dark chocolate sauce and a baked cookies and cream Quest Bar.

I really liked this one too. These new flavors are awesome and they didn’t upset my stomach this time. Score. Thank you Arctic Zero!

And our little party last night was seriously SO MUCH FUN! We’re trying to keep it a secret from Daddy. Good thing he doesn’t read the blog. Ha ha.

And with that, I’m off.

I have a little time to get some work done. My goal is to get going on this year’s tax situation so I don’t find myself in the same big mess next year.

I also have some travel planning to do for some upcoming races. That’s always fun!

And we have birthday party to go to.

Woot!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Did anyone race this weekend?

What’s your favorite kid friendly family movie? (We’re already planning our next party.)
