It’s Just What I Do and Some Things YOU Should Do- HALO Giveaway

Yes, I’m freaking hard on myself. Aren’t we all though? I attempted running on my foot yesterday because it was feeling better and usually after a marathon I give myself just a couple days off and am back running a few easy miles without any issues.

That’s just not the case this time. That’s okay. It’s a hard pill to swallow, but I’m going to do my best to take it. The timing is pretty good actually, as I was supposed to be in Napa for a race this weekend, but since I was just in Seattle, it was too much. I don’t really have anything planned until The San Francisco Marathon at the end of July.

Let’s move on, shall we?

I did a little pool running yesterday while the boys took swim lessons.

It was only twenty minutes and it was in the shallow end, but it felt good to be in the water. Who knows, I might be in there a little more often than I’d like the next few weeks. Ha.

I got some questions on instagram about pool running and I wrote a post on it last year here. Janae has some really great posts on pool running too. She spent a lot of time in the pool recently before her marathon and is the queen of pool running.

I don’t know about you, but when I go through set backs I like to read about others who have overcome them. All runners have injuries and go through hard times. I found a couple articles last night on Deena Kastor that I wanted to pass along. She broke her foot at the 2008 Olympics around mile 3. It’s always inspiring to read about athletes who make great comebacks. She’s broken a couple records just recently even and it always helps reading about older female runners still doing their thing, especially other moms.

These two articles are super old, but talk about her pretty much just announcing her comeback. (She did a lot of training on an underwater treadmill when she was hurt. Have you ever seen one of those? I must investigate.)

I made my no grain maple cake and forgot to add egg whites. Dumb. I didn’t even realize it until it was already in the oven.

It actually still worked without the eggs. Who knew?

I doctored it up with some coconut butter and molasses and had a massive chicken apple sausage and spinach egg white scramble to go with it. That Scotty B’s bacon jalapeño sauce is so good.

Someone told me to try frozen blueberries on cold cereal. I don’t remember who, but whoever you are, you’re a genius.

I may or may not have had three bowls of this yesterday. I always think I can be that person who only has one bowl of cereal, but that is just never the case. Moderation is not one of my strengths.

This is the cereal we’ve been loving lately. We got it from Costco.

When buying cereal, I always look for the ones with the least amount of ingredients.

The boys love this cereal too.
