A New Snack Combo, the Weekly Challenge and Getting Ready to Join the Club

Whelp, tomorrow is December 1st. Pretty nutty, right?

Workouts chat first. I went for a run yesterday (Saturday) outside for the third day in a row and did it right after teaching boot camp in the morning. My legs weren’t really loving me that much. Hill running three days in a row is NOT the same as treadmill running. Holy smokes. It’s kind of tells me though I need to get outside more often. I went a little off of my plan since the day before we did over ten miles when it was supposed to be shorter run day. My longest run was supposed to be 12 this week, but yesterday I called it good at 11.

Hey, I’m just now realizing I didn’t even take any pictures during my run. What do you know? I ran exactly 11 miles in 1:39:35 with an average pace of 9:02. Yeah, I guess those hills were tough.

Today was a rest day. Even though I’m not doing any long training runs for the next few weeks, I still have Sundays as my rest days.

I posted this picture on Instagram this morning along with some rest day talk. Coach Jason chimed in with my talk about resting and said:

““That’s right… all of the physiological adaptations you make to run faster occur during recovery from training, not during the training itself.”

He’s a smart guy.

Speaking of, the winner The winner of my favorite book is #51 Joy. Woo hoo! Email me and we’ll get you your book Joy!

Another book that’s currently my favorite is the Believe Training Journal. I better get a few notes in there tonight to sum up my training week. I think my totally mileage was somewhere between 45-50 miles. I’m not even sure. Oh and I randomly found this cool blank journal when I was cleaning out the office.

I WILL keep dreaming. Brilliant.

Other happenings over the weekend.

My favorite healthy snack is a slice of Trader Joe’s light havarti cheese and a Jazz apple.

I have been eating way too many not so healthy desserts, snacks, dinners….. you name it, so I’m going to focus on eating better until Christmas.

Oh and I have a new bird that I want. Andrew says we can get them someday and I already forgot the name of them, but I have a cool picture.

Ha ha.

Today I spent as much time as possible with the boys and we had so much fun just hanging out at home and not really having to be anywhere at a certain time. Things are changing over here tomorrow big time and we had to embrace all the time together that we could during the day.

Obviously it started with a fabulous breakfast and everyone was really excited about it.

Ha ha. They were really impressed with my pancakes though and said they were the best they’ve ever had. Heck yes. Want to know my secret?

I followed the directions on the box for a change and used coconut oil as the oil. Thank you Trader Joe’s once again for making me look good.

Joaquin really wanted to go on a walk later in the day with a destination.

We decided the closest place worth walking to was a yogurt shop.

I’ve still been wearing my Fitbit Charge for the big Fitbit Blogger Challenge we’ve got going on. Man the West Coast can just not catch up.

Our challenge for this week is this:

ShakeitUp-

FITNESS BLOGGER CHALLENGE Week 3

Break the monotony this week and pick up a new workout that shocks your muscles into working harder making the daily goal of 10K steps that much sweeter when you hit it!

I like that challenge this week since things are sure going to get shaken up around here. Oh man.

Make sure to check out the score board here AND enter to win YOUR OWN Fitbit Charge. They’re giving one away each week! Woot!

Back to our walk, we walked a little over a mile and a half. We stopped many times along the way.

One time in particular was to make a wish on this dandelion.

Crazy schedule changes are happening tomorrow around here. I’m never good at change and never really ready for it, but it’s a good change and we’re going embrace it.

Oh yes we are. I’ll fill you in later, but for now let’s just say that I’m joining the 5:00 am workout club. There will be no more sleeping in for me and I’m going to be even better friends with the treadmill and some romantic comedies than ever before. Oh and I’m anticipating I’ll be better friends with my morning coffee. Ha ha.

Holy smokes, ready or not, it’s happening.

Random, but this weekend I was cleaning out the office to get ready for the carpet cleaners. Let me just say that carpet cleaners that work on Sundays rock and we always get our carpets cleaned right before it rains even though we only do it once a year. It rarely rains here so we really have some good timing. Ha.

Anyhoo….

I came across this fortune while cleaning out the office. I have no idea when I got it, but it was perfect to read today.

I’m off.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Are you ready for December?

Do you ever eat apples with cheese? If so what’s your favorite combination?

Anyone else in the 5 am workout club? I’m going to need your help really getting on a schedule.
