the coming King

There are seven words in the Christmas story that undo me every year.
I love it all. The twinkle lights. The spicy and earthy smells. The tinkling of music everywhere. The bright and hopeful eyes of my children.
But.
What the angel Gabriel said to Mary? About what God was going to do? I need to hear it over and over again.
"For nothing will be impossible with God."
Nothing. Not one thing. It's the beginning of God's victory march in our story and we're invited.
This is a season for peace, yes. For joy, absolutely. For warmth and happiness, too.
But. It's also a season of hope and triumph.
Because maybe you've been waiting too long. And maybe your well has run dry. And maybe that relationship seems shattered beyond healing. And maybe you can't see a way out.
God is inviting you to see and taste and know that nothing will be impossible with Him. Not just for Him. With Him. When we walk with Him. When we slip our tiny fingers into His and tremble just the same. When we shimmy up under His arm and wonder why so hard. Maybe? Just maybe? He won't make possible ways just how you'd hoped. But He will make ways and they will be good and maybe hard but really best.
Christ is the invitation, all fresh and pink and warm and wonderful, to walk with this God who makes possibility where there is none.
He is victory, this coming King.
