Cape Cod Renovation Ideas

Have you ever imagined of finding the perfect house in the perfect location? Well, if that happens to you, you should feel very lucky. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to find the right house for us in the best neighborhood. If that’s the case, it’s usually smarter to buy in the best location and transform a rough diamond into your dream home rather than buying a beautiful home in a not so good location. You can always renovate your home, but you can hardly ever change its location.

Take this charming cape cod, designed by Anthony Wilder Design/Build, Inc. for example. With a prime location, the best thing to do was to renovate the not-so-attractive interiors accordingly to the owners taste and needs.

This cape cod had a complete renovation including elaborate trim and molding, a spectacular outdoor living space reminiscent of a tree house getaway, a large addition and much more.

If you have found the right home, but need to find inspiration to transform it into something that can work for you, this cape cod renovation is full of great ideas and it might be just what you need to feel more confident with your reno! Let’s take a look.

Cape Cod Renovation Ideas

A soothing color palette welcomes you as soon you open the door. Lighting is by “Visual Comfort & Co.”.

The entire house is painted in Farrow & Ball “Cornforth White” #228, finish: Estate Emulsion for the walls and Benjamin Moore “White Dove” #OC 17, finish: satin, on trims.

Dining Room

This dining room is the reason I am sharing this post with you. I honestly love every detail here.

Lighting is the “Chanteuse Chandelier by Currey & Company”.

Table was custom made during the interior design phase. The top is Carrerra marble.

Chairs were custom made for the client.

Paint Color

Paint Color: Walls: Farrow & Ball “Cornforth White” #228, finish: Estate Emulsion;

Moulding & Trim: Benjamin Moore “White Dove” #OC 17, finish: satin.

Note the unique wainscoting.

Floor Plan

Beautiful view of the main rooms of the house. Dining room connects to the kitchen through the butcher’s pantry and kitchen open to the family room. This space feels connected but with a certain separation.

Family Room

Wonderful family room with a great built-in and plenty of natural light!

Kitchen

A beautiful archway separates the family room from the crisp white kitchen.

Apron kitchen sink (bellow window) is by Rohl.

White Beauty

Classic choices such as Calcutta Gold Carrera marble countertop, white cabinets and gray walls make this kitchen not only appealing for today, but also for many years to come.

Range is a “Wolf 48-Inch Gas Range With Charbroiler and Griddle”.

Pendants are the “Harmon Pendant from Restoration Hardware”.

Prep sink is by Kohler.

Powder Room

Small spaces can also be stylish! Always choose a light color palette to make it feel bigger and more comfortable.

Wallpaper is Crivelli Trellis BP 3102 by Farrow & Ball _ a favorite of mine.

Sconces are the “Alexa Hampton – Abbot Single-arm Sconce”.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is very elegant and quite soothing. I like the gray patterns being brought to this space from many different sources; it feels natural and cohesive.

Paint Color

Once again, paint color is Farrow & Ball Cornforth White 228. Finish is Estate Emulsion.

Lighting

Chandelier is the “Currey and Company Dauphin Chandelier”.

Master Bathroom

The master bathroom was extraordinarily designed, with perfect combination of color and materials.

The custom vanity and built-in (on left) adds charm while creating plenty of storage space for this room.

Sconces are the “Lugarno Single Sconce from Restoration Hardware”.

Details

Tiling is honed carrara marble.

Tub is a “Cast Iron Double Slipper Tub Combo, Lion Paw Feet” sold at Home Depot and painted in a deep gray paint color.

Bathroom Paint Color

Wall Paint Color: Farrow & Ball “Cornforth White” #228 Finish: Washable Matte.

Kids’ Loft

Imagine being a kid and having a loft bedroom all for yourself. How fun is that?!

Reading Zone

Great usage of space!

Skylight

This place is perfect to see trees and watch the stars during the night!

Guest Bathroom

Great bathroom ideas are found here! Timeless carrara marble hex tiles and metal washstand with marble countertop.

Sunroom

According to the designer, the windows are custom removable and interchangeable. In this photo, the lower portion are glass inserts and the upper inserts are screen, but the homeowner has the option to make them all screen or all glass. Note: with a porch set up off the ground like this is recommended to keep the glass panels on the lower portion year-round for safety- especially if there are young children around.

Outdoor Space

What a dreamy outdoor space! It almost feels as if you’re in a tree house.

Fans are the “Minka Aire F519 Ceiling Fan”.

The decking is high pressure-treated premium-grade wood.

Outdoor TV

A TV outside? This is great for entertaining! Imagine having BBQ with your friends while they keep an eye on the game.

Hot Tub

Another view of the expansive deck. Hot tub is made by “Caldera”.

Siding is Hardi Plank with wide profiles to match existing siding.

Fireplace is a “Paloform Robata Fireplace”.

Exterior Paint Color

How charming! I love the aged brick and shutters.

Exterior Paint Color: Shutters: Farrow & Ball, “Hague Blue” #30 Finish: Exterior Eggshell.

The trim is Benjamin Moore “Soft Chamois” #OC 13
