Cat Eye Sunglasses

After more than a decade or so of avoiding contact lenses like the plague, I now have no choice but to wear them when I'm exercising after a few not-so-nice mishaps. I have what many optometrists have diagnosed multiple times - dry eye syndrome. I still blink furiously after a couple of hours of having contacts in my eyes but I try to pretend I'm fluttering my eyelashes. "er.....is there something wrong with your eyes?," a friend asked recently when I was trialling my new pack of contact lenses. pfffffft......

Now here comes the other dilemma. I've got prescription sunglasses. Not good when I've got contacts in my eyes. Furthermore, I'm one of those individuals who gets a headache from intense sunlight, particularly in summer so a pair of large sunglasses is an essential accessory. I've passed on this genetic flaw to Lil L as well. Poor thing. Thus, began another hunt for sunglasses (here I thought a pair is good enough to last a lifetime).

I have a round face. Or moon face. Whatever fits the bill. Which means.....I store my fat, not on my ass but on my face. Heap on a mere pound and the face balloons, the way a puffer fish does when threatened. If there's any consolation, the weight gain helps iron out fine lines without needing the use of botox or collagen injection (alas, I can no longer use this as an excuse for weight gain as the jowls are creeping in, thanks to aging). Finding a pair of sunglasses that do not make my moon face rounder than it already is, isn't an easy task.

Thankfully, the gorgeous Miranda Kerr shares the same affliction as I, which makes me feel....... just a smidgeon better. After spending an hour gazing at her paparazzi photos, I've learned that the trick to even out the wide cheeks and smaller forehead is to wear cat eye sunglasses. I pounced on Angela when I saw her insanely gorgeous cat eye sunglasses. They're from Thierry Lasry - apparently a major hit when the eponymous brand was first launched but I'm always late to the game. The price tag made my eyes water. The other being the Miu Miu sunglasses (in the 3rd photo) that Miranda Kerr wore on many occasions which has nose pads for those who were born Asian (we don't have a high nose bridge).

Anyone owns a pair of cat eye sunglasses? What do you recommend?
