spring fashion with clinton kelly at macy's

I am a member of the Everywhere Society and Everywhere has provided me with compensation for this post about Macy's. However, all thoughts and opinions expressed herein are my own.

When I heard that Clinton Kelly (yes, THE Clinton Kelly of What Not To Wear fame) was going to be hosting a spring fashion event at a local Macy's, I jumped at the chance to attend. I have been in love with Clinton for years and spent most of my Christmas break binge-watching episodes of What Not To Wear. I think he is adorable, charming, funny, and super sweet; and after experiencing him in person my opinion of him has not changed one bit! But more on that. Let's get to the details of the event and what you need to know about spring fashion!

When I arrived, there were women lined up the corner to meet Clinton. Thankfully, I got hooked up with front row seats and they passed out complimentary sparkling drinks and appetizers! Heyyyy. Hosted by Macy's with a beautiful set up, Clinton walked us through 5 spring fashion trends for three different women: the Millennial, the Curvy Girl, and the Mature Woman. Throughout the presentation, Clinton imparted so much fashion wisdom that I definitely can't keep to myself. And for each of the 5 fashion trends, I've included pictures of all three looks for each different woman. First up...

Clinton's Fashion Tip: A jacket is the best way to hide a tummy.
I got my first moto jacket from Macy's in spring of last year and I love that thing. It's half feminine and half bad-ass....a winning combination in my book!

Clinton's Fashion Tip: Curvy girls can wear florals on the top and keep the bottom neutral.
I loved seeing floral patterns in pants, tops, and skirts! As a curvy girl, I probably wouldn't rock a floral skinny pant but that top in the middle is to die for!

Clinton's Fashion Tip: As you get older, find more subtle ways to incorporate trends into your wardrobe.
I have to admit, this trend is not my favorite. The pants are a little too funky for my taste, but I know some girls who could really pull of this look.

Clinton's Fashion Tip: Accentuating the shoulders balances out the hips.
OK, so the tip doesn't relate to lace exactly, but it does relate to each of these outfits! I love how each woman looks both feminine and strong thanks to the combination of lace and a stronger shoulder. (And the middle picture is hard to make out, but those are pants with lace on the front! So cute!)

Clinton's Fashion Tip: Color blocking is great for women with smaller busts.
These looks were so amazing and I'm dying over the two color blocked dresses. So chic and timeless, yet sexy! Glad to know black and white never really goes out of style!

Phew! Did you get all that? I'm glad I took notes! Clinton was so wonderful throughout the entire event. He was so sweet to everyone in the audience and he lead a great Q & A session at the end of the fashion presentation. He gave us some really great tips (ladies, it starts with a good bra!) and encouraged us to find our own sense of style that makes us feel good about ourselves. I felt like he was preaching as he told us all to not dress for men because it will never make us happy. Amen, brother Clinton! He told us that no matter what age or body type, you can still be stylish and feel confident in who you are. My favorite Clinton quote of the day was "Be the most fabulous version of you" and I'm definitely inspired to do just that!

Here's some more pictures from the event, taken by the wonderful Cristi Burgos.

The crowd went nuts for Clinton!

Big smiles after getting our photos taken with Clinton.

Yes. Yes, I got to meet and take a picture with Clinton Kelly! My life is complete! He said he liked my shorts and I can now die a happy woman that a fashion guru complimented my outfit!

Speaking of my outfit...

Thanks again Macy's for hosting such a wonderful event and for making me want to spend all my money in your store. Thank you Clinton for imparting your fashion wisdom onto all of us and for being my future BFF. And thank you Everywhere Society for sending us bloggers on such fun fashion adventures. Until next time!

What's your favorite spring fashion trend? How much do trends really influence what you buy? And how jealous are you that I met Clinton Kelly?!?! Let me know in the comment section!
