Annie hates running. No matter how far she jogs, she can’t escape the guilt that if she hadn’t broken up with Kyle, he might still be alive. So to honor his memory, she starts preparing for the marathon he intended to race.

But the training is even more grueling than Annie could have imagined. Despite her coaching, she’s at war with her body, her mind—and her heart. With every mile that athletic Jeremiah cheers her on, she grows more conflicted. She wants to run into his arms…and sprint in the opposite direction. For Annie, opening up to love again may be even more of a challenge than crossing the finish line.

“Breathe, Annie, Breathe is an emotional, heartfelt, and beautiful story about finding yourself after loss and learning to love. It gave me so many feels. Her best book yet.” — Jennifer Armentrout, New York Times bestselling author of Wait for You

Straight off the bat I hoped I’d like this one. Blonde girl named Annie who hates running! Hello! Sounds familiar! And I wasn’t disappointed — this is by far my favorite of Miranda Kenneally’s Hundred Oaks series.

I love these books in general for their portrayal of teen girls who are active and healthy, both emotionally and physically. They always offer a lovely balance between personal growth, family issues, friendship drama and romantic relationships.

Annie’s struggles in this book are emotional (grief, guilt, you name it) and physical and wow what a strong portrayal of both. As Annie trained for her run, you could just feel the strain and drain it’s having on her mind and body…but also the elation she feels when she challenges herself and overcomes it. I LOVE that feeling. This is the type of book that makes you want to work out!

Okay! Romance! As I said: I like that this book isn’t all about the romance…but it’s a good one. Jeremiah is sweet and patient yet pushes Annie to grow. With the exception of a really h-o-t trail scene (!!!), they get to know each other and grow a friendship to base their relationship on, and I love that as well.

Oh! And it’s post-high school but not new adult-ish dramarama. Double bonus! So good.

Check out my reviews of some of the previous books and stay tuned for more — right now it looks like there should be eight books in total for this series:
Catching Jordan
Stealing Parker
Racing Savannah
