Diy Painted Gold Mirror ...
I'm so excited about my latest Diy project! I painted a simple round mirror I purchased at Old Time Pottery for just 39.99 with Martha Stewart's craft paint in metallic gold. Yes I am a huge fan of gold in home decor & design these days! Here's my inspiration photo...

Here's the Before picture of the mirror below. I loved the round shape, but the color was too flat and dark for the room.
For this project I applied the gold paint in circular motions on the frame of the mirror. I focused on the top section first, then the bottom, and finally the middle. I also let each section dry completely before moving onto the next. And for coverage I used 3 full coats.
The final and most important step in this Diy project was adding glaze. With a soft cloth I rubbed a brown glaze made with simple "burnt umber" craft paint and water onto the gold frame. The glaze settles into cracks and crevasses giving a subtle distressed appearance.
And here's my new mirror finished...
Yup I love my new gold mirror! And this was such a fun week-end project too. So shop your house. Do you have a mirror with a great shape but not a great color? Then it might just be time to get your Gold ON!
