“For God’s people, Thanksgiving is far more than a special day on the calendar. The Bible urges us to live a life of thanksgiving each day. Being thankful to God for all of His blessings is truly a mark of the Christian.” (backtothebible.org)

I personally believe that living a life of thanksgiving to our Lord requires two things – one, having tasted and seen His goodness – something you have to personally experience and not merely having heard or read about; and two, having a grateful heart, which is what happens when you have truly experienced God’s goodness. It is impossible to have tasted and seen the Lord’s goodness and not be humbled and have your life changed in the process. It’s just not possible to continue to be angry, hateful, resentful, discontent, jealous, envious and selfish to the one who’s truly felt and understood God’s heart.

Now, it is important to understand that God shows us His loving kindness not just in good times but even in the midst of difficulties, tragedy or unanswered prayers. Fortunately for us, God’s goodness is never dependent on our circumstances, good or bad.

On Thanksgiving Day, try to remember the moment you have personally experienced God’s goodness in your life and express your sincerest gratitude to Him who is the Giver of all good things and is the same wonderful, mighty God who loved you yesterday, is loving you today and will continue to love you tomorrow. I pray that you and your family will once again experience Him in your homes as you celebrate Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving, Guys! I love y’all!
