NEWS: Cats and Culture Collide in PUSS PUSS Magazine

Cultured cat lovers will be feline fashionable with the launch of PUSS PUSS Magazine.

Following their successful coup of the internet, with an infinite number of LOL-worthy gifs (resulting in thousands of lost hours of work time), cats are about to slink into the domain of print with the launch of PUSS PUSS Magazine. A place where cats meet art, culture, fashion and design – this brilliant project is being crowd funded through Kickstarter so you can get a slice of the PUSS PUSS pie too.

Forget naff pictures of cats in hats (while they of course have their creative value), PUSS PUSS will elevate felines to the position they deserve in our modern cultural landscape. “I wanted to dispel the crazy cat lady myth and put cats in the beautiful space where they belong,” says PUSS PUSS founder Maria Joudina – a London-based creative director and owner of a Russian Blue named Sputnik.

Loved by fashion designers all over the world including Charlotte Olympia and Karl Lagerfeld, cats have firmly established themselves as modern muse and inspiration. Celebrating this, PUSS PUSS is set to be a stylish coffee table publication and the perfect addition to any modern cat-lover’s library, PUSS PUSS will combine beautiful photography, illustrations, intelligent writing and interviews by established and emerging creatives from around the world.

Their first issue – set to go into publication if they reach their investment target of £20,000, will contain an impressive line-up, including an interview with controversial Chinese artist Ai Wei Wei, who looks after 30 cats, a high fashion shoot featuring cat-inspired pieces, an interview with 60′s model and animal activist Celia Hammond, and a look at fashion’s obsession with leopard print. Plus they have their sites set on some other cat lovers too – “My dream interview would be Karl Lagerfeld and Choupette of course,” says Maria.

For your investment PUSS PUSS you’ll be one of the first to get a hard copy of of the magazine, an invite to their launch event in London, a PDF/eBook version of the mag, a limited edition print by Jean Julien of either Grumpy Cat, Lil Bub or Colonel Meow, a limited edition Silken Favours for PUSS PUSS silk scarf in green or pink or your name on a THANK YOU page in the magazine.
