Dogs, designer duds and a few four-legged divas – it can only be one thing – the annual Paw Pageant at Old Spitalfields Market! Back for another year of crazy canine action, hundreds of humans and their hounds braved the drizzly weather on bank holiday Monday, turning out to the event which raises money for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Getting the afternoon underway, queen of canine couture Lilly Shahravesh from LoveMyDog, showed off her designer creations on some seriously stylish pooches, who were led down the catwalk by their two legged counterparts. Treating the crowd to a sneak peak at their new Autumn Winter collection, Dachshunds and Danes strutted their stuff in houndstooth coats, chunky wool snoods and bow-wow bow ties.

The competition heated up (despite the downpour outside) as hopeful hounds battled it out in the Paw Pageant section of the day. Clever canines and four legged fahsionstas were judged by a panel including model Tuuli Shipster, Co-host of BBC’s The Barking Hour – Anna Webb, Catwalk mentor and creative director, Lee Lapthorne as well as Lilly form LoveMyDog and Battersea Dogs and Cats Home’s Miriam Goodall.

Scooping the Paw-Fection prize for Best in Show was rescue dog Gustavito (Gus for short). “ We thought he was perfect as he actually combined all the categories in one! He could do tricks (standing on his back legs with Paws up in the air), was dressed super smart and comfortable in his outfit, a rescue dog that was in a lovely new home and more than anything he was incredibly happy and had a really good relationship with its new owner” said Lilly Shahravesh, Creative Director of LoveMyDog.
