Framed Snowflake Ornament

Hello Everyone!

It’s Dee from Meatloaf and Melodrama, and I’ve got a very simple snowflake craft to share with all of you today. It’s almost Christmas, but I’m still finding little areas around my home that could use just a bit more embellishment. Normally, I don’t use a lot of red in my home, but I just love using it during the holiday season and for a little while after.

So, I made a framed snowflake that’s perfect for the holidays and can even stay around your home during the winter months. It would also make a cute gift!

For this project, you’ll need:

  • 1 5X7 wood picture frame
  • Burlap ribbon (I used red, but you can use whatever you prefer.)
  • Plastic snowflakes
  • Glue
  • White paint
  • Scissors
  • Sandpaper

This is a great project for reusing an old picture frame or frames that you find in the Dollar Store or thrift store. I found a frame that was an off-white color, but I wanted to paint it white so that it would stand out more. I sanded it lightly so that the paint would adhere to the frame better, and then I painted it with white craft paint. After the paint dried, I distressed the frame again to give it a more rustic look.

Then, I cut the burlap ribbon to fit slightly over the edges of the glass insert. You need to stretch the burlap so that it doesn’t bulge, and then you can glue or tape it to the frame.

Next, put the frame back together, and make sure the glass fits securely in the frame. Now, all you have to do is glue the snowflake to the middle of the burlap, and you’re done! It’s that easy.

You could even use a larger frame and add more than one snowflake, or you could use a different color of burlap if you prefer a more muted look.

Thanks for reading, and I want to wish all of you a very wonderful holiday season. See you next month!
