Mrs Wills Kindergarten

So what did you do on YOUR Spring break?

I am just a few days into my Spring Break, but I have been working like a mad man trying to get that list worked down. Folks, my "to do" list reads like War and Peace! In the words of Dora, "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..." (you know... from Finding Nemo?) Onward!

On Friday night I put the finishing touches on our Guiding Kinders: Math Unit 7 and sent it off to Deanna for her magical touches! She is so awesome! We are already thinking about unit 8. Someone fetch me a Diet Coke (kidding... still 9 weeks without that devil drink... still miss it!)

I had someone ask me how I organized my listening stations. Thus.. this part of the post.

Here is the book we will use next week. It is from our March unit, but it is about April Fool's Day, so next week it will be.
I keep all of my books and CD's in this tub. I print out the response pages and supportive materials and place them in the same bag. When I use the book, I put the date on the bag with a Sharpie. Folks, I am old... I can't remember which books we have already used!

This is what my "station" looks like. No headphones = no headphone problems. My students have been trained to keep the volume low. I also like that I can monitor their progress at that station.
I put the bag under the CD player so it is handy when I want to switch it out. All of the materials go in the basket under the player... Seriously, this is the easiest station for me to manage. My kids love the response pages too!

This picture makes me dizzy... sorry!
This bin, with all of the listen station resources, sits just a few steps away from my player. It is out of the way, but accessible when I need it.

My teaching friend Kali and I have added these listening stations resources: Listen Up! Howard B. Wigglebottom Library Listen Up! David Shannon Library
I ordered my April books from Scholastic, but they were not delivered before our break, so I will get hopping on those next week!
I zipped into school and updated my Writing Work Station for April!

Here is a card that one of my sweeties wrote to her sister. Her sister just got her driver's license!

Dear Katlyn, I love you to have your driver's license. I love the "No Speed Limit" sign!
There are a lot of paper options at the station. I just copy a limited amount of each for the month. When they are gone, they are gone. Sometimes we run out of cards, sometimes we run out of lists, and sometimes we run out of labeling pages.

The whole year has been updated and has doubled in size! You can get the updates at no additional charge by going to "My Purchases."

I finished, printed, and set up my Super Sentences for April unit in my pocket chart.

I had someone request an Easter version of my addition and subtraction fluency game. This is what I came up with.

I got my poem ready for Monday! This is from April's Poetry and Shared Reading Unit.

OH! AND I also finished this NO PREP unit! It is currently discounted.

And that is it! I have been in a rush to finish things because I am leaving on Thursday to go to San Antonio for the Neon Dash! Anyone else doing this 5K?

I will be back tomorrow to talk about how I organize my materials for our math units... oh... and I might have to talk about duct tape!
