Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation

You probably would have guessed I am always on the look out for a new foundation. I love my Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation but I am always looking to see what else is out there. I have wanted to try Illamasqa's skin base foundation for so long but every time I went to get matched I found the colour was either too light or too dark. Number 11 was too dark and number 10 too light. So when the ASOS sale was on I came across the foundation on sale but they had a new shade 10.5!!
//
var _gaq = _gaq || (); _gaq.push(('_setAccount', 'UA-35579470-1')); _gaq.push(('_trackPageview'));
(function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')(0); s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();
//

I picked it up in my sale purchases and was happy when it came as the colour matched me perfectly. I honestly do not think any other foundation comes this close to my skin colour. So why am I not wearing it everyday and raving about it. There is just something about the formula of the foundation that I can't get along with. It is very thick in consistency that just didn't sit right on my skin. The coverage is full however the finish is neither matte nor dewy. It is something between the two which left my skin looking a little unfinished. The foundation does last me all day and can be easily applied and blended.
I would recommend definitely using a primer with this foundation. I will give this another go soon as I really want it to work for me and cannot have another foundation just sitting on my shelf.
The other thing you will notice is the writing on the packaging has worn off very easily. I didn't take pictures before I started using this and within a few uses the logo has rubbed off the front.
What did you guys think of this? Any tips of application?
