Lakme Crimson Affair Absolute Creme Lipcolour Review

Lakme Crimson Affair Absolute Creme Lipcolour (Rs 650 for 3.2g) available at Jabong

It’s no doubt that Lakme has been pulling out all the stops lately with new on trend colours and textures. I was keen on trying their stuff and picked up this lovely burgundy lipstick to use.

Shade- Lakme Crimson Affair is actually a misnomer. This does not look crimson to me from any angle, instead it is a gorgeous blood red, almost burgundy lipstick. The colour is very dense and saturated and just one swipe is enough to coat your lips. The resulting look is sure to make heads turn.

This is clearly not one for day wear. You have to save this for an evening out or a nice large celebration. Adding a glossy lip gloss or one with slight shimmers is sure to take this over the top and make it perfect for a wedding.

Texture and Formula – The lipstick is smooth and goes on very clean. I find it quite hydrating and comfortable on the lips. It is quite buttery but does not melt or bend easily, the best texture that I can think of in a lipstick. There is a mild chocolate fragrance that is very un-noticeable unless you sniff hard at the tube. Even so, I do like a nicely fragranced product, especially on my lips.

The final look is not very glossy or shiny – in fact I find Lakme Crimson Affair to be in between a crème and a matte, something I quite appreciate currently. Beware though, this does tend to show the fine lines a little more. The pigment however, does not settle into the lines, it just accentuates them.

Pigmentation – This is one of the most pigmented reds I have come across – there is no way to wear this sheer. Lakme Crimson Affair is deep and needs only one swipe of colour. Adding on layers makes no difference to the shade or the application – its perfect with the first go.

Lasting Power – Lakme Crimson Affair is one super long lasting lipcolour. I had this on for over 4 to 5 hours including a full lunch and drinks and when I finally got back home I needed to use a eye and lip makeup remover to get it off. The colour stays dense throughout. I did wipe my mouth with a paper napkin and that made little difference to the colour, it was still there. After about 8 to 10 hours of wear, I find it disappearing leaving a very nicely visible stain.

Overall thoughts

I’m quite eager to try out more colours from this range. Lakme Crimson Affair was love at first sight. I would love to have some of these in more wearable shades. I do find the price a little steep though but then the quality does not disappoint.

Rating 4/5
