A chaise longue (French for “long chair”) is an upholstered sofa that is in the shape of a chair. It supports the legs and allows you to “lounge.” Therefore, we have “Americanized” the term to chaise lounge instead of chaise longue.

It’s such a unique piece of furniture that can be used in so many ways. We immediately think of using a chaise lounge in our bedrooms. They are the ideal piece of furniture to use as the perfect sitting area.

But you are not limited to using them in your bedroom. I have a sofa that I use in my family room that has a chaise on one end. They are wonderful in a living room because they invite your guests to sit and relax.
