Dream Journal 1

One of the mini projects I wanted to do when the new year started was to start a dream journal. I don’t mean dream journal where you document all the money and houses and bags you want later in your life, I mean a notebook of the dreams you have at night. Who hasn’t googled “what does your teeth falling out in a dream mean?” Oh…just me?

I have had some recurring dreams in my life and I was curious what triggered them or if they have any connection other than being my brain's favorite dream topics. The weirder thing is sometimes I have dreams that later are vaguely familiar to my real life experiences in the future (yes, I just said my dreams act as a crystal ball).
The purpose of this post isn’t to get metaphysical on you or weird you out by telling you I am some kind of fortune teller but I really wanted to share some details from my journal. These are actual entries.
1/7/14: Last night I dreamed Ryan and I got high to watch The Hobbit but instead of putting the movie on, we went to Price Chopper where Jerry Seinfeld made us gourmet pancakes at the deli.
1/27/14: I dreamed I was in a fashion show at NYFW and had to wear demin shorts overalls, a white crop top turtleneck, bejeweled beanie with accompanying tiara and a fur coat.
2/10/14: I dreamed I stayed in a hotel with my boyfriend’s family. His mom was mad at everyone so I consoled her by quoting classic Seinfeld episodes. Then we went to a caramel candy factory where Justin Beiber worked. All of their candy was wrapped in Dunkin Donuts napkins (so sticky).
2/11/14: I dreamed I knew someone's secrets so he snuck into my house (that was really someone else's house) and used a sharp knife to slice all of my friend's mouths open as a reminder to keep mine shut. No one was scared or hurt, it all seemed normal. Then we turned into clowns.

Some say dream journals make them more creative or give them insight into their lives. All my dream journal has done to date is make me realize what kind of f-ed up places my brain ventures to when I let it run wild in my sleep. The reoccurring theme I found: Jerry Seinfeld. Talk about insight into my subconscious mind...
