Music Tag!

I do love a good tag post, when I saw Sasha from Ramblings of a Beauty Bird do this tag, I knew I had to follow suit. Being a bit of a music obsessive for a long time, I would count music as my absolute first and biggest love- if I had to choose between makeup and music, makeup wouldn't even stand a chance! So I thought you might all enjoy getting to know that side of me a little better.

What's your favourite type of music? I really do listen to a lot of different types of music, I definitely don't have a 'type' and often surprise people with some of the bands that I like. I'd say most of the music that I listen to falls into the Alternative category, recently this has leaned more towards indie or dance alt music whereas when I was younger it was more rock music. But I also have a massive soft spot for female solo artists so people like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Ellie Goulding and Florence and the Machine are amongst my top listened to. A massive contrast from when I was about 15 and only liked male vocals.

What's your least favourite type of music?
I find it really hard to define a genre that I don't like because I would say that I dip in and out of a lot of different genres. I'd say that sort of... churned out chart music is my least favourite, I like songs that I can connect to on some level and unfortunately that doesn't hit the spot. So people like Justin Beiber are pretty near the bottom. I also can't stand heavy metal (sorry!) and I used to really like 'screamo' (er, they screamed alot?) bands but I can't listen to it at all anymore.
What's the best gig you've been to? Oh gosh, thats a really tough one because I really have been to some amazing ones... I'll tell you what i'll tell you about some of the ones that really stood out to me:
  • Oasis, 2009 at V Festival, before they came on stage we had seen Snow Patrol who were amongst the best bands I've ever seen and then Oasis walked on stage and it was incredible. That last was the last night they performed on stage together and Liam Gallagher left the stage by saying 'we're out of here and you've been biblical' what a way to end an incredible band.
  • AFI at Give It a Name 2007, at this point AFI were my favourite band in the world and I was so excited to see them. Me and my sister went up at like 11am and waited to get straight in at 12, we ran to the front of the stage and we got on the barriers where we waited all day (it was nearly 12 hours without a wee!) to see them. I cried and I screamed for the whole set, it was incredible and they are an incredible band. I've seen them twice since then but nothing beat that first time.
  • Brand New in Cardiff 2012, I briefly caught a bit of Brand News set at reading the year before and when tickets went on sale for Cardiff I was so excited. In some ways it was rubbish, I was with a boy I didn't like and it rained but Brand New were so effing good that it is still one of my favourite memories, they played a great set, they trashed the stage and were so exciting to watch- I can't wait to see them again.
What albums are you listening to at the moment? As always, i'm listening to a whole bunch of stuff. Right now I'm listening to Brand New (reminiscing), I've also been listening to Two Door Cinema Club, Bastille, The 1975, Imagine Dragons and Coldplay pretty much non stop for the last few months. I keep going back to Taylor Swift as well and I love Justin Timberlake's new album (who am I kidding, I love Justin Timberlake full stop. I want his babies).

What's your favourite bands/artists/favourite album?
Oh, another toughie. Up until about a year ago I would have said without reservation that my favourite band were Lostprophets and had been since I was about 14. However, I started to grow up a lot and just massively fell out of love with them, they'll always be special to me- but they aren't who I am anymore.
I'd say that Frank Turner is probably my favourite artist, Brand New are my favourite Band and Mylo Xyloto is my favourite album.
Of all time, The Cure massively have my heart.
If you could instantly know how to play any instrument, what would it be? The guitar without a doubt, or something really elegant and lady like, like a harp.... no, no. I definitely want the guitar. OR A DRUM KIT.

If you read this and liked it, I think that you should do the tag too and link me to it. and if you can recommend any bands based on those I have mentioned, please do!
