Made By Me #86

Today's make might not be very season appropriate but it certainly brightens a dull, cold day. Nothing like brightly coloured babes in bikinis to take the chill off Autumn! I want one of the cocktails served in a pineapple they are enjoying too. Mmmmm. I love the range of small scale prints from Timeless Treasures, there are flamingos, elephants and even unicorns. I am busy adding Christmas fabrics and ribbons to my wishlist. So many to choose from. 2014 is definitely the year of the Christmas dress for me. Christmas jumpers? So last year ;) I want to make a few other Christmassy bits but am not sure what... what is your favourite Christmas make? If you have a tutorial even better, link me up in the comments please.

I have recently partnered with Elephant In My Handbag, you might have noticed their presence in my sidebar. I don't often give up space in my sidebar but love the range of fabrics they offer and after chatting over twitter I can confirm they are the friendliest bunch. They supplied the fabric for this dress and are very kindly offering readers of a million dresses 10% off purchases. There is currently no time limit to the code but it is single use, just enter the code 'milliondresses' at checkout.

This is one of the first dresses I have made since I purchased my overlocker. I haven't shared my insides yet as I plan on doing a post on how I find the Singer machine I purchased. Needless to say I am loving my new toy. It is really satisfying to use but is quite noisy and does add time onto my makes. I certainly wouldn't agree that an overlocker is essential in dressmaking, I made 84 quite happily without one, it is just like adding a bit of polish. I machine wash all of the dresses I have made so far and apart from one small repair to a shoulder seam I haven't had any problems with fraying.
