I’m never doing that again

My appointment was canceled at the last minute yesterday morning, so that meant a long run was in the cards!!

I laced up my Hitogami’s, hit up the trail and ran to Fisherman’s Wharf. I can tell we’re going into tourist season spring break because there were a lot more folks out enjoying the day. I’m sure it helped it was 80 degrees, which is almost unheard of here.

As much as I love warm weather, my body does not like running in it and boy was I reminded of that yesterday. I thought for sure I was gonna croak from heat stroke. Don’t you worry, I told people give me a nice little kick and to pause my Garmin if they saw me flailing around on the trail.

I ran about a quarter mile on the hard sand beach just to change things up a bit. Sometimes I make great life decisions.

Running does not come naturally to me. It’s something I have to work hard at. There are no short cuts or easy ways out. It takes a lot of effort to get out there and push myself. Buuuuut I love a good challenge. That’s what keeps me coming back for more.

For every tough run, I am reminded of how far I’ve come and the more I swear to myself I’m never doing that again the more I find myself signing up and actually paying money for more self torture. Totally normal. Totally.

I feel like I grow a tiny bit each time, even when I’m the queen of positive splits. Cough**yesterday**cough.

I often tell Mike I wonder if there will ever come a day where I will have to quit running. I know that’s a looooong time from now and it’s something I think about since I love it SO much. We’ll just file that under #thingsnottothinkabout

A little something for you from #thehusbandfiles

PS Today is the last day to enter the Spartan Race giveaway. I’ll announce the winner in tomorrows post. Good luck!

Does running come naturally to you or is it something you have to work at it?

How long have you been running?

Since September of 2009.
