The Model and Me: Motto

There are times when I put on a garment and cannot believe just how right the designer gets it in regards to creating something that can be so comfortable AND so flattering.

This is THE winning combination in my style book.

Earlier this year, Australian label Motto introduced me to its Lauren cropped pant.

There it was – my winning combination in a soft pant – pants that have since become wardrobe favourites. I even bought the leopard print in the same style.

So, imagine my excitement to see that very pant is back.

In a long version.

The model

Motto jersey long Lauren pant $89.95 | Motto jersey cut-out bell top $79.95 | Motto Cassie stretch belt $59.95

and me

Motto jersey long Lauren pant $89.95 (I’m wearing size 16) | Motto jersey cut-out bell top $79.95 (I’m wearing size 14) | Zoe Kratzmann wedges | Red Phoenix Emporium necklace | Bohemian Traders bracelet

I love a cropped pant for casual wear with flat sandals or sneakers but a full-length pant has a lot more wardrobe options (so long as the weather is playing nicely with us).

You can still wear them as the base for a casual outfit with sneakers. Or you can wear them with ankle boots, heels or wedges as I’ve done here. It’s this dress-up-ability that makes them versatile wardrobe additions.

You can wear them with a knit – or with a blazer – or a simple jersey top as Motto has styled here.

It doesn’t matter which way you choose to wear them, the bonus will still be the same. They are unbelievably comfortable.

They also have such a beautiful drape in the pattern – this works to elongate your legs. That, my friends, is why I consider them magic pants.

Do you love a soft pant?

PS. Today is my youngest’s birthday. He’s a big nine-year-old. I do not know where those years have gone. He had his party yesterday with some friends and his cousins and I whipped up this requested Minecraft cake. The square muffin tins I found at Coles, the chocolate cake I made using a recipe that included golden syrup (amazingly moist and light) and I have a hasty order to Sugar and Spice Cupcakes to thank for making me look good in the eyes of the Minecraft-obsessed boys.

Tonight we’re heading back to the Night Noodle Markets as a special birthday dinner treat (we went on Friday to the official opening as guests of event sponsors Cathay Pacific and just love them despite the icy and windy conditions). The markets are part of Brisbane’s Good Food Month and are on until July 27. Did someone say pork buns? And dumplings? Yes please.
