Wedding Wednesday - Save the Dates and Wedding Webpage

Hello everyone! I want to start by saying thanks so much for hanging in there with me despite my total lack of posting the last few weeks. To give you a brief photographic update on what is going on around here ... :

... My kitchen looks like this:

We're mid remodel, and the house is a health hazard.
... My face looks like this:

We'll keep this one small so I don't scare you. I'm mid chemical peel and my face is a mess. Will do a review on this specific peel when I'm done in case there is anyone else interested in looking like Freddy Krueger for a week. It's worth it though, I swear.
... The first page of what will eventually be a 12 page list of shit I have to read for my comprehensive exams looks like this:

... And the forecast looks like this:

... So basically I've been in sheetrock dust/peel-y face/grad school/hundred degree hell.

I did want to share a couple wedding related things with you - specifically, our save the dates and wedding website, and how to do them on the cheap!

We ordered our STDs (giggle) from Wedding Paper Divas, and chose the Haute Heraldry pattern. (Excuse the blur - I took these without my glasses on.)

Although we wanted them to look nice, STDs were a place we knew we could save money. So in order to cut down on the cost, we ordered the minimum number possible from Wedding Paper Divas (10 for $31.40, which works out to $3.14/print), then scanned them using a high quality photo scanner. We needed 120 in total, so we uploaded the file and printed the rest at Costco for $.39 a piece, versus the $1.44/piece it would have cost via Wedding Paper Divas at a volume of 110. The downside of this is that we could only print them one sided, although since these things tend to end up on fridges then in the trash, it wasn't a big deal.

All in all, we were able to get 120 for $74.69 (including the original 10 that we purchased) while buying all 120 online would have cost us $172.80. That said, the quality of the originals from Wedding Paper Divas was gorgeous, and it would be worth spending the full amount for the originals if you were up for that.

Lastly, while we wanted a wedding website for the convenience of our guests, this wasn't a place we wanted to invest a ton of money. There are some gorgeous designs out there for sale (check out this page for some), but in researching the free sites, we fell in love with Wedding Wire's sites. There are dozens of beautiful ones to choose from, and while you can't really customize the base template very extensively, there are numerous pages and widgets you can add on to your side bar. (These include everything from customizable maps to a flight search feature). Here is a sneak peak of our home page.

I hope you are all having a wonderful week, and I'll be back soon with a (most likely headless) outfit post!
