New York or Ibiza? Urban dwellers or bohemian beach look? Phillip Lim was clearly inspired (and maybe conflicted but who wouldn’t be?) by these two tribes. His Spring Summer collection plays constantly between oppositions and contrasts: floral prints, bright red and cyan, soft fabrics, oversized shirts and pants, summer stripes vs muted colors, fitted silhouettes, neoprene and leather. All the urban attributes were updated with soft materials or colors (or both) while the leather jackets styled with shorts and his bomber jacket covered with exotic flowers creating constant visual disruptions. But surprisingly what could have been a risky approach turned out being a subtle combination of a different men aiming for the same desire, a life made of pleasures and elegance.
