Old movies

Some of my favorite movies are old movies. My parents made sure to expose me to a wide variety of films at an early age, so I gained an appreciation for old movies. You don’t have to worry about uncomfortable scenes or any foul language or violence; they’re the perfect films to watch with the family (and with friends or by yourself too!). Whenever, really. Here are some of my faves:

BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S:

Super cliché, I know. But has there ever been a creature as gorgeous as Audrey Hepburn? I think not. I’ve seen this movie at least 20 times and I’d watch it again in a heartbeat. At one point, I had most of the lines memorized. (I even did a photo shoot inspired by the film a few years back). I love the bustling of old New York City, the fashion, the classic love story and of course, Audrey Hepburn.

Here is my favorite scene from the movie (and quite arguably one of the loveliest movie scenes ever):

BAREFOOT IN THE PARK:

Before I saw this movie, I always thought of Jane Fonda as that woman who does yoga and used to act and is still really famous but hasn’t really been in movies lately. But MAN. The Jane Fonda in this movie is a BABE. No wait… make that a MAJOR BABE. Material for the next Girl’s Got Style? Perhaps. But aside from girl crushing on Jane Fonda (and Robert Redford ain’t too bad looking himself), the story’s about two mismatched newlyweds living in a NYC apartment the size of a shoebox and it’s super sweet and light-hearted and whimsical and you should just go watch it now already.

BRINGING UP BABY:

The first time I watched this movie I was in absolute HYSTERICS. I love Katharine Hepburn’s quirk and spontaneity. She and Cary Grant have the best chemistry together.

SEND ME NO FLOWERS:

I watched this movie randomly with the family one night when we all felt in the mood to watch a movie. It was one of those let’s-just-pick-something-that’s-available-to-stream-on-Netflix-really-quickly and we didn’t put much thought into it all. I was surprised the movie was so good since we basically picked whatever was most convenient on our streaming queue. The best kind of surprise!
