How To Get To The Beach which Featured in “The Beach” Film

Hey everyone. if you have been following our instagram lately you will see we have been on lots of adventures. This time to Phi-Phi Islands in Thailand – you know, to that elusive island that was in the film “The Beach” (circa 2000) with Leonardo DiCaprio?

Well, our journey to the island was very much like the film… lots of boats, planes and speed-boats to get there… not including our swim needed to get onto the island while being pinched by crabs! But it was well worth it.

The beach that features in the film is Maya Beach on an uninhabited island 2 hours off the coast of Southern Thailand. We wanted to share some of our pictures of our time there and let you know the easiest way to do the same thing too!

1. Arrive in Thailand. It’s much easier if you arrive in the south of the country, near Krabi or Phuket. from here you can board a two-hour ferry that will take you to Phi-Phi Islands. If you head to Phuket Town harbour area you will see the boat that goes directly to Phi-Phi. The last departure is around 2pm so don’t arrive late.

2. Once on the larger of the two Phi-Phi islands, organised a chartered speedboat. This may take around 1 hour in total from boarding to actually arriving close to the island. We visited Maya Beach when it was nearly deserted, which was awesome for us, but it did require a very strenuous swim to the island from the boat… about 40 metres… but with BIG WAVES AND ROCKS!

3. Once you have arrived and swam to the island you can literally ask your Speed-boat driver to wait a few hours and enjoy the island to your hearts content. IT truly is a beautiful island and we had the most awesome time visiting! Take a little look at our pics, see what you think
