30 Plus Style and Beauty featuring Chasing Cait

How would your friends or family describe your style?

I hope they would say that it’s feminine, fun and chic!
I think my NZ friends would say that it’s colourful, but my QLD friends would be surprised by how much it’s toned down!

Who inspires you and why?

Celebrity-wise? I LOVE Blake Lively’s attitude to style. She is so elegant, but young and fun at the same time. And she doesn’t have a stylist! She wears what SHE wants to wear and feels good in! In normal life? My mum. I’ve never, in my whole life heard my mother talk negatively about her own body. She taught me about positive body image my whole life, that your body is a result of what you put in and what you do with it.

That message now translates into what I do as a style coach – helping women regain a more positive body image, and confidence, through style.

What are two things you bought and never wore. Why didn’t you wear them?

Ummmmmm nothing ever!! (that would defeat the purpose of my job haha!) no, I still have this AMAZING Trelise Cooper drop waist, mustard dress that I bought when I was working for her, I LOVE it so much, and the colour is so far wrong for me, every time i put it on, I look like I’m going to vomit.

I must admit I have a few cocktail dresses in my wardrobe that I haven’t worn….. YET! I’ve worked for a couple of amazing designer labels, so I’ve bought classic, well-made, beautiful frocks (for mates rates of course) that I know I can pull out when the time arises, like weddings and parties etc. I know that might sound silly to some people, but my theory is – if you find it, and you love it, and it fits, and you can afford it . BUY IT! The occasion will present itself.

Describe your biggest beauty disaster (and do you have photographic evidence)?

oh….. the too-blonde balayage. I’m a brunette through and through. as SOON as I saw this photo, I dyed it back to brown myself, like the very second.

What outfit always makes you feel amazing?

A pair of fun, printed pants with a blazer and wedges or heels AND a massive statement necklace. It’s my go-to “I need to look stylish and professional, but normal and approachable too”outfit.
