Why did you start blogging? And has it changed from when you first started?

I started blogging in October 2009. My blog didn’t feature any outfit or fashion related posts until a couple of years ago. That’s the advantage of a blog like mine, part person, part lifestyle, part fashion… No one can tell you what to do, so I do whatever I like!

Blogging itself has changed a fair bit too, there are certainly a lot more Australian blog now than there was then and lots more diversity in fashion blogs too. I love being able to see women of all shapes and sizes, ages and races sharing their fashion love. That’s my favourite part.

How would your friends or family describe your style?

My sister wishes I would wear more colour but other than that we don’t talk about it. Though my Dad does always have an opinion on what suits us hair colour wise… My friends are another story altogether; we talk about this sort of thing all the time; I think the girls would label my style as quite modern, but classic. I think they would also describe it as economical. I don’t like to own a lot of items that I don’t wear so my closet is as streamline as I can get it without sacrificing things I know I’ll wear again.

What are two things you have bought but never worn?

It doesn’t happen to me often; I am pretty sensible when it comes to new additions to my wardrobe; it is part of that whole streamline thing. But I do own a peplum top and skirt outfit made entirely of predominately pink, multi-coloured sequins that I have never worn. And jeans, if they don’t fit right, I don’t wear them, and they sit there until I sell them on; a downside of not reading the returns policy/deadline/prices when shopping online.

Describe your biggest beauty disaster and do you have photographic evidence you are willing to share?

I had this horrific hair moment when a hairdresser insisted on putting my head under a dryer while I had bleach filled foils in my hair. Now I don’t know if you know this but bleach is self-activating and unless it’s a SUPER cold day (which it hardly ever is here) then you don’t NEED to add heat to get it going. The heat from the skull is enough.

I ended up with hair that had turned to jelly and large pieces coming out. It was the whitest white blonde too. After a good tone! I ended up with this short concave bob to get rid of the damage (from another hairdresser) that was fab when I left the salon but quickly turned into an unruly mop of short curls that resembled the fleece of a sheep. SO bad. No photos though, they were destroyed long ago! Eeeep.

You forgot about an important dinner party and you only have ten minutes to get ready. What do you do?

Bump my ponytail at the front, a five minute face of makeup with a focus on mascara and eyeliner, and I’d throw on an all black ensemble and call it a day. Given I have a number of ‘favourite’ all black outfits I would probably have time to spare to swing by and grab a bottle of champagne. Even if I didn’t, I do it anyway; no one cares if you’re late if you’re carrying champagne.

What always makes you feel amazing when you wear it?

I feel great in items that fit me well and sum up my personal style, things like my leather jogger pants from 17 Sundays or the striped dress they named after me. Which let’s face is is pretty darn cool. But then I also love anything that feels great on. A great material goes a long way to a pretty amazing fit which leads to that whole I feel AMAZING thing.
