DIY: Galaxy Nails

This nail trend has been around for a while now, and it has to be my absolute favourite. Galaxy or Nebula nails are very simple to to do, surprisingly! I attempted these back in February, and after a little trail and error i've managed to perfect them. Im an astronomy nerd, and I love anything to do with the stars and outer space - so this nail art is right up my street
What you will need - Black polish White/silvery polish at least 2 colours of your choice A glitter polish Clear polish a make - up sponge Tweezers Nail polish remover a make-up brush
Start with a black base coat and wait for it to completely dry. Don't worry about making it really neat around the cuticles, this can get messy and we'll sort it out at the end. Break up your make-up sponge making sure each bit has a lot of texture and rough edges. Now its time to start creating the galaxy - pour little white polish onto a piece of paper, take a piece of your make-up sponge in your tweezers and get a bit of paint on the sponge. Dab off any excess onto the paper and start dabbing the polish onto the nail. Make sure the white isn't to opaque and that you leave some black around the edges to make it look realistic.

Once you have white on all of your nails, choose your first colour. From experience, brighter colour work better as they stand out more. Try using blues and pinks, Yellows and Oranges or purples and greens - you want the colours to compliment each other and blend together nicely. I choose Blue and Pink as they are my favourite combination for this technique. Start with your darkest colour first. You are going to do the same as you did with your first white colour except this time you are going to focus on a particular part of the nail. So for example, you may decide to put some blue in the top of one nail and put a bit in the bottom corner of another - you want to move the colours around and make sure you don't cover the whole nail with colour!

Then take your second colour and repeat in a different area of the nail in your lighter colour. Now your nails will be looking pretty messy, and nothing like a nebula. Take your nail polish remover and dip your make-up brush into the fluid, sweet the brush around the edge of the nails to clean up any polish that is on your skin and cuticles to neaten up your nails. Once you've cleaned up, its time to finally add the finishing touch to your nails! Grab yourself a clear polish with small flecks of glitter in it and sweep it over the nails - Do you see it looks like a nebula now? it completely transforms the look of the nail. The clear polish strengthens the black and blurs the lighter colours so everything blends in together nicely.

Let me know if you give this a try xo
