An Ancestral Style Thrifty Thursday

My genealogy is fairly straight forward:

I am the product of an Irish clan gettin’ busy with a Scottish clan (or vise versa) hence my thrifty nature, pasty pale skin, light eyes and quite a few wavy red accents in my natural hair…

I was lucky enough to thrift a fabulous velvet & wool dress in my Scottish clan tartan when I lived in London (& then it sat packed away in 2 different countries until fate had me inherit a sewing machine and teach myself how to use it thus allowing me to begin my upcycling journey & finally refashion the dress into something I’d actually wear)

My Irish clan hail from County Donegal & the family Coat of Arms depicts a mighty oak tree. My Clan’s Aran (knit stitch pattern) has an unusual trellis centre panel, flanked by cable, honeycomb rope, zig-zag and moss on either side. The trellis represents the stone-walled fields of the Aran Islands, cable represents good luck, honeycomb symbolises work, the zig zag stitch has come to represent the ups and downs of marriage and moss is symbolic of nature. Anyone wanna knit me a something with my Clan’s Aran?

“Invictus Maneo” = I Remain Unvanquished and is the motto of my powerful Scottish warrior clan and pretty fitting if I do say so meself!
