Fall Pallet Wood Sign {September Silhouette Challenge}

It’s that time of year! Yay! It’s time to get out the fall decor and start showering our homes with fall colors and pumpkins! Yay! I am so excited. I love fall. I love decorating for fall, especially my mantle. It not only gives me a reason to do some crafting, but it just gives our home a more “cozy” feel to it. As part of my fall mantle {which I’ll be sharing more of that in future posts}, I created a Fall Pallet Wood Sign, to add some simple color and dimension to our mantle.

It’s my project for the September Silhouette Challenge. Get ready! Our theme this month is Home Decor….and next month is FALL! There are SO many fun projects to look at this month! But first, let me show you how I made my Fall Pallet Wood Sign. Supplies: *Pallet Wood {I found mine in the craft section of the store} *651 vinyl *Mod Podge *Spray paint *Silhouette Cutting machine

Directions: 1. Spray paint your pallet wood. I used Rustoleum in a metallic. 2. While this is drying, set up your text in your Silhouette software. I chose the words “Grateful, Thankful, Blessed” to off set on my sign. 3. Cut the vinyl and apply it to the dry pallet. WARNING! It may not stick very well. I am not sure if it was my wood or the spray paint, but it didn’t stick like I thought it would. So Mod Podge to the rescue! 4. After applying the vinyl to the sign, give it a nice coat of ModPodge. After this coat has dried, do it again. I thought about doing the paint and peel method with the letters. BUT, I had cut the “thankful” out of red on purpose, so it would have a pop of color. And, I didn’t want to waste the vinyl. The Mod Podge did the trick! None of the edges are peeling anymore, and I know the words are staying on there. This project is simple! As are most of mine :).
