Trend to Try: Indigo Shibori

Today I wanted to share a cool trend that I've been seeing everywhere...shibori! It's like a grown-up version of tie-dye. I've been seeing it pop up in mainstream stores like Madewell and West Elm, but honestly it looks really easy and fun to do yourself. A perfect project to tackle this summer! I think kids would enjoy giving this a try, too. In case you have no idea what I'm talking about, shibori is a method of dyeing cloth which originated in Japan in the 8th century. Indigo is the dye that is traditionally used, which makes the results a lot more chic than the tie-dye I grew up doing. Here are just a few of my favorite ideas!

1. Cloth napkins

2. Curtains

3. Kitchen towels

4. Pillow

5. Table runner / 6. Clothes / 7. Bedding

8. Napkins

Have you tried any shibori projects? What do you think of this trend?
