Nayll Polish Review
Hey dolls! I was recently contacted by Nayll (pronounced with a long a), a new brand that allows the consumer to design polishes to include the exact elements you’d like. You start by choosing either a shimmer or glitter base. Multiple shimmers can be combined for a unique look. A variety of colored and shaped glitters and flakes can be added to the glitter base (a sheer jelly) to create the polish of your dreams. The site allows you to narrow the ingredients by color or shape to make deciding a little easier. I created five different polishes, which I’ll show you this evening. The hardest parts for sure were trying to come up with unique combinations and then naming them. You all surely don’t have to worry about me starting an indie brand! Here’s what I came up with:
Nayll Summer Sunrise is a combination of the orange coral, red violet pearl, and blue pearl shimmers. The formula was sheer, but not runny. It built up nicely in three coats to full opacity. I would recommend using thin, light strokes to minimize visible brushstrokes. I love how soft this shade is. The blue shimmer is so nice and subtle.
Nayll Think Pink, Go Green is a combination of pink coral and green pearl shimmers. I wish I would’ve started with the green shimmer base and added the pink next. The green doesn’t stand out much in the base. The formula was very similar to Summer Sunrise; it was sheer and built up to opacity in three coats.
Nayll Highly AKAmplished is the coconut jelly base filled with green dots, bright pink hex glitter, and smaller gold hex glitter. The base was quite sheer, so I layered two coats over Essie Marshmallow. The formula was on the thick side, so I did have to dab the glitter on in some areas. It does dry to a gritty finish, so Nayll Smooth It Out Glitter Top Coat was used. The top coat is thick and quickly smoothed out the glitter in one coat, leaving behind a smooth, glossy finish. It is not a quick dry top coat, so one would still need to be used if in a rush.
This polish means a lot to me because Highly AKAmplished was my sorority line name in undergrad. I was one of those super smart cool kids who got all As, but was still in the popular crowd and involved in every school event through student government.
Nayll Purple Sky is a plum jelly base filled with silver and violet hex glitter and matte aqua dots. The formula and glitter density was good and it applied evenly in one coat over Barielle Sexy Mood. Purple Sky did dry to a gritty finish, so Smooth It Out Glitter top coat was used.
Nayll Sail Out is a blueberry jelly base with caramel squares, white flakes, and turquoise hex glitter. The glitter was sparse, but I actually like that. The formula was easy to use and applied nicely in one coat over Essie Aruba Blue.
Nayll Holy Holo Top Coat was also included in my package. The top coat applied very nicely and evenly in one coat and didn’t make the base color appear to be too silvery. The holo isn’t super strong at one coat, but it works perfectly for me. Holy Holo Top Coat was used over Barielle A Little Exotic.
Overall, I think Nayll is a very cool concept. I’m sure all of us have experienced liking everything about a polish except one element. Or, we’ve been looking for a specific combo with no luck. Nayll allows you to be as creative as your heart desires. The base price is $12 for each polish and an additional $0.40 for each glitter and $0.15 for each shimmer.
