China Glaze Metro Pollen-tin & BornPretty Black Studs

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Hey dolls! We’re one step closer to the end of the work week! Some time ago I picked up several shades from the China Glaze City Flourish collection, which was released for spring 2014. Even though I read many reviews stating how bad the formula was on a few of these polishes, I still decided to try them out because of the fun shades. China Glaze Metro Pollen-tin is one of the first I tried. This shade reminds me of artificial cheese coloring like in boxed mac and cheese, nachos, or spray cheese. Metro Pollen-tin’s formula was thin (but not runny) and streaky. It did not self-level well, so three coats plus top coat were used to achieve a nice finish.

I always like how striking black looks on bright shades, so I added a few BornPretty black square studs. The studs were easy to apply using a bit of base coat dabbed onto the nail. This set of studs also included 12 other shapes such as bows, triangles, and hearts (retail price $3.99).

The black studs give this look a little bit more edge and distracts you from the formula unevenness. I can’t wait to try some of the other shapes from this set. Feel free to use my coupon code TPJ61 to save 10% on your next BornPretty order.

While I do like how Metro Pollen-tin walks the line between being a bright or pastel, the formula wasn’t pleasing at all. Did you try any of the shades from the China Glaze City Flourish collection?
