Selfies: Look Into My Eyes, Babe!

Women demand it of men, especially those who are well-built directly beneath the shoulders: look into my eyes when you’re talking to me, or, my face is up here, bozo! Why is it, then, that so many seem to ignore the beauty of their own eyes when shooting a self-shot, and insist on looking at the small screen in their hands when pressing the button? Don’t they know how appealing, how enticing, their own eyes are when they look directly at the person, the voyeur, who is looking at them?

And then such a sad face, as if they’re not sure what is happening, as if they need to make sure that what they see on that screen is the real them, that the framing is right, that the proportions are right, that they look hot. And yet it is so easy, simply take the photograph, look at the result, and decide if you need to do it all over again. The moment may be gone, but the chance of perfection is still there. It’s not as if they need to take a film out of the back of their smart phone and bring it to some corner kiosk for developing.

Of course there are many attractions in such photographs, and many women exploit this to the fullest with a deep view right down their blouse, if they happen to be wearing one, and a sultry look on their faces. This, they seem to be saying, is what’s on offer, nothing more, nothing less. Like my boobs, and you like me!

Yes, if the opportunity is there, we’re going to look. We’re going to take advantage of the angle and rivet our eyes on those wonderful playthings as if they are the only important assets a woman has. Is she well stacked? Has she the proportions of a Barbie doll? Can I see just a hint of something more, other than the swell of her breasts? Then this is the woman for me!

Well, no. Or, rather, yes and no. Are we all fixated? I certainly hope not, since there is far more to a woman than what she packs into the upper portion of her dress, even if what is squashed in there looks as if it is ripe for harvesting. Anyone who believes that they are going to win a woman over by staring at her boobs is in for a whole mess of disappointments right down the line. It takes just a few moments to push those bulbous bags into a bra or a tight-fitting dress, but far longer to fix up a face, to even pick out the fashion statement that is going to be worn. You can’t go around complimenting a woman on her boobies and expect to get more than a slap down in one way or another, either physical or verbally.

So, beautiful women, why make it harder for those you’re seeking, those you wish to impress, by staring into that smart phone? Why not show how bold you really are, and look straight out into the eyes of that person, whoever it may be, and challenge them? Give them the impression that you are looking at them too, that this is a two-way thing, and not just an exhibition.

Apart from which, the eyes are so beautiful, so full of expression, so revealing. You can see a laugh in a woman’s eyes, see a secret, see emotion and feeling. Boobies, well, they need to jiggle to express laughter and, as we all know, still photography is not the best medium for that!

And when you look out, into the world that you cannot see but know is there, you’re saying far more to that viewer. You’re showing confidence as much as anything. Showing a woman who is happy with her appearance, who doesn’t need to look, worried, into the screen and check the image before it is even finished. No one needs to know that this is the first, the second, even the thirty-third attempt to get it just right. They only need to know that it is you, and that you are looking out, smiling, demonstrating yourself as a person, and not just as an ignorable head above a set of prominent breasts.

Even if your photographic efforts are designed to sell the rest of you, the erotic effect of looking outwards is amazing. Why, you may well ask yourself, do so many porn stars look into the camera while they are performing? It pulls the viewer, the voyeur, into the action. It invites them in, calls them to take part, as if they are really there. It is a recognition of those who are just looking, no matter what they might be doing with their hands! Not that I am suggesting that all those beautiful women taking self-shots of themselves should pose like a porn star. Think about the positions they adopt so that the camera can get just the right view. It simply doesn’t work in real life, far too uncomfortable.

Aside from which, most people, when they try to achieve this sultry, appealing, come and get me look, simply do not have what it takes. Not by today’s standards. The competition from the professionals is simply too high, too practiced to beat. They really are selling themselves, and not in the way most people wish to sell themselves.

Be confident! Look into the camera and challenge your viewers, even when you do not know who they are. Show that you are ready to take control of any situation, that you are the one who is in command, rather than looking down, being submissive, letting fate lead you wherever it wishes. If someone is going to view you as a sex object, and you can be wearing a sack for some people, it makes no difference, at least show them that you are the one who will be saying where the future leads.

Love & Kisses, Viki.
