Some Sunday thoughts on building a home away from home

I’ve now been living in New York for four weeks. And while there is still plenty to be done to try and make my apartment feel a bit more like home, I’m really starting to feel like I’m slowly settling into life here.

And while building a home is not necessarily about getting as much *stuff* as possible, I’ve really been focusing on finding those small perfect pieces to make my apartment and my bedroom look and feel as cosy and comfortable as possible.

From a few fresh flowers to the above Rifle Paper Co prints, showing my home and my home away from home, it’s remarkable how much difference a few small details can make – and how much happier they can make you feel.

I still have a long old way to go – the biggest and most important hurdle being G’s relocation over here – but I’m really starting to settle myself into this big ole city. Now if only I could start settling myself into actually knowing my way around…
