The post-Coachella body, mind and skin pamper

As I may have mentioned once or twice – or a million times – I was lucky enough to spend last weekend in the California desert at Coachella. It was one of the most epic weekends; I don’t really consider myself a ‘festival-goer’ but as far as I’m concerned this is about as good as it gets in that respect.

However, the business of the weekend – it was pretty much non-stop – left me feeling ever so slightly worse for wear in every sense of the phrase. My skin was grim, I have a severely swollen and sore throat which is still continuing to plague me, and I was pretty darn knackered and worn out. So having worked my way through the rest of the week without falling over (it was a struggle), I decided that something of a post-Coachella body, mind and skin pamper was in order over the weekend.

Will start with the body and mind – loads and loads of water, plenty of sleep (we’re talking the whole of Saturday spent in bed), and several DVDs and magazines to relax me into a total state of comatose contentment. Add to that a bath and we were well on our way to actual relaxation.

Now we’ll move on to skincare – first up, a good double cleanse. Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser to get on deep down into those pores to cleanse away all that Coachella fun, followed up by the gentle and soothing Clarins Extra Comfort Anti Pollution Cleansing Cream. Follow that up with my all-time favourite acid face mask, the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask, then two different toners – an acid toner from Kate Somerville and a calming spray toner from Lush – and my skin already felt 1,000x better.

Last up comes the double whack of moisture. On top of all that water I drank over the weekend, I wanted to make sure that my skin was getting a good old gulp of hydration in the form of the Tarte Maracuja Oil and the Kate Somerville Oil-Free Moisturizer. A double whammy if you will.

And while all of that goodness is soaking in, a candle was lit, nails were filed and cuticle oil was applied. All in all, it was a seriously restful and relaxing weekend, and while my throat still feels horrendous, I’m happy to report that I’m in a way better state than I was this time last week…!
