Back to School

Well even though the summer holidays have just started everyones thoughts are already thinking ‘Back to school’ and thoughts of uniform, school essentials and even children's emotional and mental preparation. Starting school and going back to school in a new year can be stressful for children and parents alike, so getting prepared in advance can be very useful.

Along with the normal uniform buying etc we wanted to do some fun projects to make Charlie think about school and to bring the topic of school up in conversation in a easy light way. So when we were offered some Sainsburys GM stationary as part of their 'Back to School' campaign it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get started!

The stationary itself was great quality and there was a great variety for us to do some fabulous craft activities. We wanted our activity to focus around the back to school theme and so we chose to draw each of them a picture of a school boy and a picture of a school for them to do as they pleased. Our boys decided along with the wiggly eyes they wanted to use the tissue paper to fill in the pictures and so we cut it up into squares and got sticking!
The boys loved doing these pictures and it was such a great opportunity to talk about school and nursery and how they were feeling. They found the GM stationary products easy to use and they felt of good quality to me.
We also thought that by doing activitys such as this one we are keeping them motivated and prepared for the learning environment of school. Just below I have added a picture of the boys creations during our 'Back to School' inspired fun and as you can Charlie's is a lot more structured at first glance but Harry told us what each colour was for on his school roof etc for example he added some birds by using different colours. All the time we were asking them questions about the colours, the shapes and what they were looking forward to most in September. It's never too early in the summer to think about going back to school or indeed starting school!
