Items That Delight, Vol. 1
Offline, I’m a bit of a bookworm. Recently, I finished Shocked: My Mother, Schiaparelli and Me by Patricia Volk. The author, Volk, superimposes Schiaparelli, a surrealist designer’s excerpts from the memoir Shocking Life into her life growing up in New York City. My takeaway? Everything has the potential to delight. Even, say, a button. Here are the items that currently delight me.

The book that started it all. When I spotted this hot pink book in Barnes & Noble, I was drawn to the cover. Then I read the back and realized it was memoir revolving around New York City and a fashion designer. That was that. I read the book in four days.
I’m intrigued by wearing socks with high heels. I haven’t worn this look in public yet but I’ve mastered it in my apartment, CITC. I like wearing the floral socks with cobalt blue pumps.
You guise. Neoprene fabric is having such a moment right now in fashion. We can thank Cynthia Rowley for championing the surfer wet suit material for the masses. Expect to see this skirt a lot this summer. #Surfbordt.
I’ve never really paid too much attention to Emma Watson. I’ve always known her as the cute little girl that played in the Harry Potter movies. And then she walked the red carpet for the 2014 Golden Globes in Dior Couture complete with a single Dior pearl earring.
I died.
Actual Dior Tee Shirt earrings retail for upwards of $500. But these inspired babies were $20 on Etsy. I’m going to wear one double pearl paired with a rugged silver stud. I’m into mix-matched earrings.
Last Friday, Gilt City opened their Warehouse Sale up to the press. Man, oh man. Sample sales bring out the worst in the women of New York. I was able to score these Cinderella-esque shoes for myself and a pair of Miu Mius with glitter bottoms for my mom.
Purple is reigning big on my lips. I can’t get enough of purple lipsticks. The Dolce & Gabbana feels balm-y and good on my lips. The Topshop packs a bunch. Nars Schiap is in shocking pink for the designer who brought the color–and this post–to life, Elsa Schiaparelli.
I’m obsessed with nameplates and continue to by all that BaubleBar offers. Even if that means wearing my own signature around my neck.
