2 Years Old

People talk so bad about the twos. So far, I am loving them! Here is a quick (maybe) recap of Avery at 2!

Speech- Avery is finally talking a lot! It is so fun, she will repeat just about anything we say and it is too cute. She struggles with her k or c sounds. So when she says Baby Cameron (her favorite baby in the world, my friend's 6 month old) it comes out Baby Tamren. It is adorable.

She also sings to herself. Until lately we couldn't make it out, but I have been hearing snippets of things I recognize. It goes like this . . . . mumble mumble L M N O 8 9 10 mumble mumble. It is sooo cute. She is singing parts of the ABCs can count to 10 with a bit of coaxing and knows all of her shapes and colors.

Physical- She is getting soooo big and starting to lose some of her baby chub, It makes me a little sad, but I am happy to see her growing into a big happy and healthy little girl!

Sleeping- Until about 2 weeks ago, she was sleeping like a champ. Down at 8:15 and awake at 6:30 with a 2-3 hour nap. Now She is going to bed at 8:30 but won't fall asleep until 9:30. She will sometimes play, sometimes sing and occasionally cry/scream. Once she is asleep, she will stay asleep until about 700. This is the case whether she naps for 1 hour or 3. I am hoping this prolonging sleep at night changes soon.

Eating- She is still a picky eater and a snacker. She will boycott lunch at daycare if she doesn't like it. People say if you are hungry you will eat whatever, either she isn't hungry enough or is too stubborn. I am guessing stubborn. I was a severely picky eater and would go hungry rather than eat something gross. It's in her blood. So we supplement with V8 fruit and veggie juice. Otherwise the only fruits she eats are bananas and raisins. And her only veggies are peas, corn, potatoes, and friend green beans, She is weighting in at 70% so I am not overly worried.

Play- Avery is getting really good with pretend play. She loves taking care of her baby and playing with her dollhouse. She also loves to run, and climb, and play basketball and soccer. She is devastated if we drive past a park and don't stop to play there.

Favorites- She has obsessions and they are somewhat odd. She loves this small train (basically a mini version of a real train, it is about as tall as her) and when we drive by it she freaks out . . .BABY CHOO CHOO. Also there is a blue bus that does fish fries for a local charity and she loves seeing it. When it was gone for a few days we had to tell her blue bus went to visit his mom in Florida, that seemed to appease her. She is also obsessed with babies, dogs, undies, and make up. Also, she is way into Princess Sophia the First, which is a nice change from Fresh Beats Band and Barney. She is also really into cooking with mommy. She pulls a chair up to the counter and she helps me pour, stir, and open and close boxes.

Learning- It is so crazy how much she picks up on and how funny and clever she is. She is making long sentences with adjectives. We are trying to focus on our flashcards and incorporating learning. Her daycare does pretty well with this too.

Family- She is super lucky to have such good grandparents. She sees her grandma and grandpa at least twice a week (since they watch her twice a week) and we call Mimi and Eddie at least once or twice a week. She will be riding in the car and say call mimi? It is usually her idea to call her grandparents and it makes me so happy she is so into them!

Potty- She is newly interested in her potty and is doing a good job with it. When we get home at night she changes into her princess undies and doesn't wear a diaper until night time. She knows she can't pee in her undies, because everyone knows princesses don't like to be peed on. So far no accidents. We will see how this goes when we get further into the process. I am waiting for a non jam packed weekend to start this hard core.

This was more for documenting than anything else, so if you have gotten this far, congrats!
