{Rose Bakery at le Bon Marché}

Rose Bakery has long established itself as a home-baked, organic cafe where you can find quality, vegetarian dishes therefore I can’t help but think of it as a slight contradiction to open a cafe with such an ethical background in a luxury department store.. call me cynical? A far cry from the first Rose Bakery along Rue des Martyrs with its rustic interior and homely feel, this modern space feels a lot colder both in design as well as service. Nonetheless I can’t argue that its decor fits nicely with the chicness of the very first department store in Paris. The polished white interior and light pouring in match the elegance of the store, and perhaps it is a natural evolution which I should accept instead of penalise..

Although this spot is lacking in the cafe’s original rustic charm, the quality of the food remains the same. Undeniably I usually order the granola, however this is simply due to the lack of Parisian eateries serving my preferred and much healthier raw muesli. Large bowls of super healthy grains served with fresh fruits isn’t something which is too easy to find here so whenever I do spot it on a menu I know exactly what I’m ordering. Rose Bakery have mastered this breakfast dish; a bowl of raw oats topped with grated apple and cinnamon and sprinkled with fresh berries and crushed almonds; as delicious as it is nutritious. Is it just me or does food taste so much better when you feel as though you’re feeding your body with vitamins?
